The Penny is a proud member of the Hougen Block Project. As a coffee shop, we find ourselves being a point of contact for bookings, education, gatherings, and catering needs.
The Coffee Shop
The Penny Coffee House was born out of a community’s dream to see action and collaboration in Mission’s downtown. We aim to curate a culture of like-minded people who long for a family-friendly, and aesthetically-conscious community gathering place. The Penny exists inside of a collaboration of like-minded people at the Hougen Block Project who share the value to be a gathering place for people in Mission.
Why “The Penny”?
Pennies are of little value on their own but combine them and the impact adds up. We believe the same is true of individual efforts to better our city. Penny People care about the neighbourhood around us. are committed to making a personal contribution toward the betterment of our community, however small. Buying a coffee doesn’t seem like much, but it adds up to a great impact!
Our Menu
We value quality, simple, and wholesome ingredients in all we do. Sourcing locally roasted coffee, tea, baked goods, and merch means that together we can champion both the individuals and businesses in our community.
